my computer got a really bad virus. it made everything really slow. i cant really watch videos anymore. and when i type is takes forever for the letters to show up. and when i draw in photoshop it like..glitches. all my pictures that were saved have been moved to some random location. (my whole pictures folder was empty..but the files still exist since i can open them from "recent places" or whatever.   i think i need a new laptop.

What a pain! But, I guess if there was any reason for a new laptop, that would be it :-P Mac or PC?

I know this is kinda late, but definitely consider Avast if you're low in cash and can't afford anti-virus software. Avast is awesome. :omg: It's not only free, but it alerted me to any potentional threats waaaay more than the subscribed anti-virus software I used to buy. It even gives you an alert beep the moment you enter a porn site.

My (old) computer was just like that! I hated it so much. So much. I do think getting a new laptop is the best thing to do, and I would suggest getting a Mac because apparently they're more secure (or something). I don't have one myself, though.

Eewww.... get better soon, Tesa's laptop. Or die. But don't die until after she gets a new one.

This is the best virus protection I've ever used. You don't need to buy it, the free version is great. I bought the lifetime version for $30 I think. I can't stress how great this is.

Yikes, I hate viruses.
Don't worry, you probably won't have to buy a new laptop.
Just make sure you have a virus protection system that can get rid of the virus, or try a system restore.

May I suggest, you System Restore to a latter date, in which, the virus hadn't been planted yet?

I use Malwarebytes and Avira to get rid of nasty viruses. You could try those out and see if they help any.

try cleaning out all your junk files. advanced systemcare (free version) always made my computer faster. maybe you could try that :meow: stfu liz. don't advertise here ಠ_ಠ

I had a nasty one here recently. It wouldn't let me run anything claiming it was virus ridden. I did a system restore and it was back to the way it was. I would try that before getting a new laptop.

Download and run this... I just made this for you and you will just have to trust me. ^^ ; It will download and install a good antivirus and a very good anti spyware in an unconventional way that most viruses aren't designed to stop. Install both of these and reboot and good luck... These two together, if they install correctly (ie: aren't stopped by the virus), will clear everything up for you very quickly.

Good luck. ; ;

If you don't trust me enough to use a random .exe I sent you, go to [link] and click the check box for 'spybot search and destroy' and 'microsoft security essentials' then scroll to the bottom and click 'get installer.' This will get you an exe that will do what I described above. :3

I second the system restore. It has helped me get rid of a lot of that kind of problems before!
Good luck fixing your computer!

I would get it looked at by a professional or something.. If it happened to me, i wouldn't know what to do, so i'd probably mess up trying to fix it on my own xP But yeah, only coz I don't know much about computers v.v
I hope it gets fixed and u still have all your stuff on ittt > A <

I'm sorry :( I know how you feel. My computer crashed a few months ago. I was lucky enough to get most of my artwork back, but I have since moved on to a new computer to avoid the risk of losing it again.

Probably because the viral attack damaged critical system files. This is a case of running several anti-viral tools, and backing up your data. Then if the system still doesn't respond, then reinstall the OS.
